Suttle Homeless Voter Bus

KFAB’s Tom Becka is reporting that Forward Omaha — the anti-Recall, Pro- Suttle group financed by Democrat sugar-daddy Dick Holland — is orchestrating a three day operation whereby they will go to homeless shelters and bus homeless people in to the Election Commission office to vote.

The kicker that Becka is reporting is that a listener has a video of a homeless voters asking about where they “get their money” to vote.  Becka will put up the video, if and when he gets it, at KFAB.com

The OWH reports:

“It’s not a partisan thing,” (Noelle) Obermeyer (spokesperson for Forward Omaha) said.

“We’re busing anyone who wants a ride down to the election commission,” said Obermeyer. “It’s going to continue as long as it’s demanded. Today, must have been the Siena-Francis House.”

The Election Commissioner notes that many of these people are listing the Sienna-Francis House as their residence.

Actual Omaha residents?

Who knows.

Legal?  Not to pay them.

We will follow this as it develops.

From KETV.com:

A representative for Forward Omaha says the people who rode the bus were promised opportunities to work for the group on Election Day.

Those hired would help get voters to the polls on Jan. 25.

“We are paying people to work for us to get out the vote on Election Day. If they go through training they get $5. They are not being paid to vote either way,” Gary DiSilvestro with Forward Omaha said.

The organization also was transporting voters to a site for training.

I rather doubt the claims that voters are being paid.

But let’s see if I’ve got this straight: It’s OK for the recall committee to collect valid signatures at the homeless shelters (yes, they did), but it’s not OK for the anti-recall groups to encourage/help those same folks to actually vote in the rrecall election?

You recallers have turned Shark-jumping into a fine art.

Note to SS — Sorry for the repost :]

  2. Training Course says:

Let me see if I understand this correctly? They get paid $5 to go through training to show OTHER PEOPLE how to fill out a ballot properly to retain Suttle on election day. This is followed by a bus ride down to the Douglas County Election Commission where they are allowed to vote their ‘conscience’ after which they are promised an opportunity to work on election day.

Tammany Hall would be proud of Boss Suttle!

  3. Wow says:

That is absolutely despicable. Low, Suttle. Very low. I’m a Lincolnite……….for what it’s worth, vote to recall Suttle. I’m also involved in non-profits and have helped at the Matt Talbot Kitchen in Lincoln. I would rather like to see someone use their stature to help bring positive attention to the good that non-profits do. The unbiased, all-loving help that goes on there. Instead, the opportunist that is Suttle uses the non-profit for community organizing to use these human beings as free votes for him.

Get out and feed the homeless, Jim. Don’t go out and use them. What a disgrace.

  4. Labor Laws says:

    Hmmmm…

It doesn’t sound like Noelle is paying these employees mimimum wage for their “work.” Is Noelle paying workmen’s comp and unemployment too?

If not, I certainly hope every one of these “independent contractors” completed a Form 1099. NRS § 48-2301 also requires all Nebraska Employers, both public and private, to report all newly hired, rehired, or returning to work employees to the State of Nebraska within 20 days of hire or rehire date to ensure that all child support obligations are current.

    If not, looks like trouble…

NRS § 32-1536. Bribery; prohibited acts; penalty

    (2) Any person who, by bribery, attempts to influence any voter of this state in voting, uses any threat to procure any voter to vote contrary to the inclination of such voter, or deters any voter from voting shall be guilty of a Class II misdemeanor.

  5. Smoking Gun says:

Suttle and supporters always said he shouldn’t be recalled without a criminal act on his part. THIS is our criminal act. I’m voting to recall.

  6. BkDodge42 says:

Our men and women in the military serving their country overseas will not be able to receive absentee ballots in time to vote in the recall election. The first day that absentee ballots would have been mailed out was Monday Jan 10th. It takes two weeks for mail to arrive overseas and would get there after the election. While it is good that homeless are able to vote, it is a discrace that our service men and women do not have the same opportunity. Support our troops and vote Mayor Suttle out of office.

  7. Concerned says:

If this a picture of the ‘Forward Omaha’ and the way they act on their values and principles, then they don’t represent Omaha.

Performing an illegal act or exploiting the Homeless, they don’t represent Omaha.

Whine, SS, whine! You panting and pulling our your hair is palpable. No one was paid to vote. No one was told to vote or how to vote. Nice try, though.
