Early & Often

Today is the day ladies and gentlemen and fans of all ages.

Practically balmy out there, eh?  Get thee to a voting booth and darken an oval.

In the mean time, take some blurry cell phone pics of the lines or lack of lines or sign wavers or what have you and send them in to LeavenworthSt@gmail.com and we will post the good ones.

Also email in or comment with what your precinct was like this morning or afternoon or evening.

And send in any other exciting Election Day info you have, and we will update accordingly!

Check back often (and early) [and follow us on Twitter]and tell your co-worker they are a bad person for not voting — even if they are from Bellevue.

Note that the OWH is looking to sue the Police Union for using their newspaper banner in one of their mailers.

Word has it that Mayor Suttle paid lobbyist John Lindsay another $19,000 ($4K?) to fight for the wheel tax in the Unicameral.

Another $1,000 and Suttle would have needed approval from the City Council.  Well that’s convenient, no?

Note that Senator Ben Nelson has been nominated for the 2010 Porker of the Year.  (Oh, and this award does not come from the Iowa Pork Producers…)

  1. Curious from Central Nebraska says:

I first read about the OWH’s outrage at the Police union in this morning’s OWH. Did Omaha readers learn about it in Monday night’s edition?

  2. he does it again says:

So Suttle once again purposely avoids having to go through the process of having the city council approve an expenditure by paying a lobbyist just under the amount requiring approval. It just goes to show he is arrogant.

  3. Anonymous says:

Please let this chapter of insipid Omaha city politics be done so we can move on to more exciting things. Suttle is the most banal, boring politician ever.

  4. CVS Manager says:

Don’t worry Mr. Suttle, we haven’t forgotten about you. Starting tomorrow you and your staff are more than welcome to apply for the low wage stock boy and cashier jobs that you brought to Omaha.

  5. WTF says:

I change my vote to NO. You have to support Suttle for wearing his best shawl in his fireside chat video. How can you put a guy like that out in the streets?

  6. Anonymous says:

Over at the OC, they’re attacking the OWH and KFAB for encouraging people to vote. They must know that high turnout will stop this recall in the water.

    Suttle survives.

  7. GeosUser says:

I drove by 4 polling places in the area of 156th & West Dodge. I haven’t seen them this busy since Nov. 2008 election. Guaranteed bad news for soon-to-be ex-Mayor Shuttle.

  8. Anonymous says:

Dennis, I hear that Vince Powers is privately saying that Suttle has no chance, that fighting the recall was the whole shooting match. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for his client, huh?

  9. Dennis says:

Dick Cheney before the Iraq war: “My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators.” Paul Wolfowitz before the Iraq war: “We’re dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction, and relatively soon.”

  10. Anonymous says:

Man is it ever going to be fun to watch the Unions get kicked in the onions when Suttle is gone and the Unicam yanks the CIR! Why they may have to use their dues for things other than funding lap dog politicians. In this envirornment Libs will have no chance to pick up seats ANYWHERE! Whoo Hoo happy days are just over the horizon:)

Unicam Man- I hope so for the RIGHT reasons (pun intended for those of you in Rio Linda)

  11. The Guy's at McFly's says:

I have my pension, who cares going forward. Yank the CIR!! At 70k a year and another 40 years of life god willing, you schmucks are going to pay me $3 million bucks for 20 years of work.. Hey Nabity, come down here for a beer. It’s on the city, literally.
