Heard AFP is holding an event in Omaha tonight about SCOTUS ruling, just got this email:
“Join us TONIGHT at 6pm with Senator Tony Fulton at our brand new Omaha volunteer center to discuss the ruling and what we are going to do about it. Invite your friends! Let’s pack the house.
13216 Cottner St (south of intersection of Millard Ave and L St)”

Do we all have to start calling the Chief Justice “KICKBACK ROBERTS” now for being the deciding vote?

  3. Goober Natorial says:

Why wouldn’t we do that, IO?

I’m wondering about something else. Pundits were saying Justice Roberts doesn’t want his court viewed as being political and there was speculation he might join the majority if Kennedy voted with the libs so that it wouldn’t break down along ideological bounds with Kennedy as the swing. I wonder instead if Roberts found that Kennedy was going to be the fifth vote to affirm and offered to sign the opinion for Kennedy so that Kennedy could appear to side with the conservatives instead. IOW, sign each others opinions. In that way, he protects Kennedy and keeps this from looking like an ideological 5-4 vote.

Now I really know what Schadenfreude is. I am pissed that Obamacare stands but quite happy that the 56% of the population who voted for Obama will get to suffer even longer from the crappy economy. You people made your bed. Now lie in it.

  5. Goober Natorial says:

It’s not going to reduce healthcare costs. It’s only going to shift them.

It’s not going to improve access. It’s only going to shift access from the productive class to the unproductive class.

    It’s now definitively a tax.

And the projections for how much it would cost wildly underestimate the final tab.

It doesn’t even cover all the uninsured.

It’s one gigantic shit sandwich and its apparently Constitutional.

    Ain’t life grand?

Great news for Republican candidates and strategists. They can continue to keep this issue front and center and promise to vote to repeal Obamacare.

  7. Goober Natorial says:

Of course, what do you expect when you have a President who thinks that the single most notable thing that made America great was diversity?

Elections have consequences! So now the TEA Party is invigorated to boot all the D’s we can out, especially the Taxer in Chief! We will remove as many as we can, Nebrasks will send Deb Fisher, and this obamanation of a presidency will end. We will then repeal the law and return this country to what it was founded on, freedom of choice and personal responsibility.

I have a feeling the education community will get hit very hard with this ruling. The legislature will NOT increase taxes so they will have to cut somewhere to pay for the additional costs. For counties up against their lids tough luck, get rid of administrators. But no increase in funding, take that you b::Che’s.

Okay, maybe that’s not such a bad thing…

Yup elections do have consequences, and I hope Ben Nelson enjoys his legacy now! Speakingg of the legislature how about a new tax on small turkey farmers? Seening how the govt is now free to tax anything and any behavior.

If you like;beer, wine, tobacco products, or hate broccoli or meat, ou had better consider who you are going to vote for. Remember the govt can now tax your behavior. Hey how about taxing Rap music? It is a dangerous music that encourages poor health outcomes? If you like driving your car to work, the govt can now tax you for the behavior because it isn’t as healthy as say riding your bicycle. The candy industry now needs to be taxed more, along with cheese and breads.

For sure this ruling will put the POTUS out of the Whitehouse, so thank you justice Roberts. Both Roberts and the POTUS can take their seats along side of Kickback Nelson, Pelosi & Ried in history books as the biggest screw ups next to Carter and Wilson.

The stock market is showing its approval! Way to go Obama, now go away we don’t want you, and your ilk anymore. November is coming and you all are going.

  12. Macdaddy says:

I demand Lee Terry submit a bill that says you will have to pay a tax if you do not either pay for car insurance or have a bus pass. Non-mobile Americans are mooching off of us all.

  13. A call to arms says:

Non-mobile Americans need to pay their fair share. I call for the passage of the Hermit-Homebody Act!!!! However let’s not have Terry propose the bill or it will never get passed.

Corporate lackeys? Have you heard any corporation complaining about this? No. In fact, Pharma and the insurance companies are probably breaking out the champagne right now. McDonalds and lots of similarly small businesses got an indulgence, er, exemption from Obama so they don’t care. Have fun paying that extra tax, Obama lackey.

  15. Kerrey for NYC Mayor says:

The biggest losers today. beyond the American people that is, are nearly every Democrat competitively running for office. Nothing will do more to energize the conservative base than what happened today and the Dem’s will likely lose the Senate and possibly the Presidency as a result of this vote. I hope Kerrey has a renter lined up for his new “cool” house in Dundee…

Now that SCOTUS ruled obamacare a tax, it can be repealed through the reconcilliation process with a simple majority of Romney and 51 votes in the Senate, avoiding fillibuster. In striking down the mandate SCOTUS essentially made it highly unlikely similar measures will be attempted in the future. The only thing standing in the way of repeal is implementation of state exchanges before Nov. It appears that mess has been averted as reported by the Washington Examiner on Drudge, “The Republican Governors Association said that nothing should be done by the states until after the election, a clear signal that they believe a GOP president, House and Senate will kill the health care reform”. Hopefully Gov. Heineman will have the good judgement to do the same.

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court channeled Lincoln’s own Larry the Cable Guy and…

    Got R’ Done.

Why go BACK four years when America is a nation that moves forward.

To all the upset Leavenworthst.com readers, consider this: Chief Justice John Roberts is an arch-conservative and a consummate lover of the U.S. Constitution and he voted to uphold ObamaCares.

I’m certain he cast the critical vote after asking himself, “What Would Jesus Do?”

As in “What you do to the least of my Brethren (the nickname for the Court) you do unto Me.”

Please go to i*Harper*Se to read my latest Post: Justice John’s Epiphany at Bethesda’s Church of the Little Flower, Roberts’ Catholic neighborhood parish.

  18. AnOnYmOuS says:

i*Harper*Se, Roberts did NOT uphold obamacare…he upheld the right to tax. That is it. He even stated, “‘It is not our role to forbid it, or pass upon its wisdom or fairness’. He didn’t say it was fair, just Constitutional as a tax. And he was smart. In doing so, the conservative judge not only made it easier for us to repeal the law (we now don’t need 60 senators, just 51), but ensured that after repealed we likely will never have to deal with something like this again.

Jesus didn’t say “take by force to help others”. I believe he would support the party that encourages charity (the GOP) rather than the party that wants to end tax credits for charity and use calls for social justice as a reason to seize wealth through cronyism. As Hal Daub said, “You have to have jobs to have profit, and you have to have profit to have charity.” Only the GOP is promoting the creation of wealth & charity. The libs view wealth as a finite resource that must be divided and resdistributed for equality. They don’t understand that wealth is created!!!

Too many here spend too many hours watching Faux News, which turns their minds to mush. (See polls which show those who watch Fox News know less than those who watch nothing.) Your ideas of what “liberals” believe is only a figment of your imagination. You think Warren Buffett doesn’t know how wealth is created?

  20. Sweetwater Observer says:

Remember, this all started with Ben Nelson’s fraudulent selling of his vote….the famous Cornhusker Kickback. If Ben would have had even a smidgen of honesty and integrity, none of this disaster would have happened.

    Thanks Ben, you crooked bastard.

Yeah … well, obviously they didn’t poll you.
