A super-fast update — as we don’t currently have time for anything further — on the goings on of the past week or so. Mainly so you have the opportunity to comment anew.

Deb Fischer brought a slew of people from Valentine, Nebraska to refute the piece of garbage ad that Bob Kerrey has put out. Kerrey, it seems, believes that because Deb Fischer’s husband’s family had a fence dispute that goes back to the 1930’s, Nebraskans should elect him to the U.S. Senate.

Did the Fischer family have a strong legal position? Well, their lawyer, Warren Argenbright certainly thought so or he would not have signed their petition, as their attorney. Interesting.

But Bob Kerrey and his smear campaign put up an ad featuring THREE local Democrats who don’t like Deb Fischer.

Well then.

Now THERE’s the campaign tactics of a candidate with momentum, yeah?
That and doing a complete 180 on one of his biggest positions – Cap and Trade.

Or maybe Kerrey’s just double digits behind and will do anything to win.

Watched the Lee Terry – John Ewing debate the other night. There’s 60 minutes of breathing that we will never get back.

We are sure it flipped supporters of both sides back and forth [#SarcasmAlert]. (Who were the only ones watching, by the way.)

Here’s the upshot: Ewing would vote to raise taxes and support ObamaCare and his first vote would be for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker. Terry will be the opposite.

Feel free to vote.

And on that 2nd Presidential debate last night…

My they were feisty! Well, at least the President had a Red Bull before this one. What else to explain his incessant interrupting of Romney — especially when Romney was about to refute a bogus point he just made (we note the one on Obama’s Chinese pension.)

All in all, we didn’t think it moved the needle much.

So how to explain Frank Luntz’s polling group that went wildly for Romney?

Things are happening.

  1. Goober Natorial says:

So, when is an independent committee going to roll out an ad informing Nebraska voters that racist Bob Kerrey, who didn’t want blacks to have equal rights at the University, killed women and children the first opportunity he had to see action in Viet Nam? I’m sure the elderly couple Bob had murdered were beloved members of their community as well.

  2. Political Genius says:

If “Character Counts” why does the Nebraska Democratic Party still support Brenda Council???? This was no civil suit, it was CRIMINAL!!!

  3. Anonymous says:

Goober, you’re doing a good job of spreading that bullshit thick enough. No independent committee wants to steal your thunder, nor get all sticky with your bullshit.
    PG, I’m a D and I agree.

Once again the Alinsky rules of engagement were at play. Obama couldn’t stand on his record alone so he just kept promising…….and for the most part he has delivered. Yep he has fundamentally changed the country…to being even more socialist and perceived as weaker around the world. BUT he didn’t lower the seas, he did get unemployment down, the deficit spending is twice what it was under Bush………. And so on.

Bottom line is the Obama’s will be moving to Hawaii soon, and we will be better for it. See ya, don’t let the door hit you on the way out!!!!

Macdaddy, NO, I did not tweet under the name Betty Kime nor any other name, ever. I have never, ever tweeted. I only read a few of those tweets several weeks ago when some of you were talking about them in here. I had never even read any before then, nor since then. I had never ever been on Twitter before that or since that one day.

  6. Interested Observer says:

What exactly is the problem with this site that it very often does not show a comment, requiring me to slightly change the wording and hit “submit” again?

  7. Interested Observer says:

The above article says “because Deb Fischer’s husband’s family had a fence dispute that goes back to the 1930′s”. That’s not factually correct at all. Fischer’s only purchased the land next to Kime’s in 1971. Kime’s had owned their ranch for many, many decades before Fischer’s ever came into the picture.

DEB FI$CHER’S assertion now that her failed lawsuit was about a boundary dispute is also not factually accurate. It was exclusively a land grab. The suit alleged “Adverse Possession” of 105 acres of extremely valuable land. I’m starting to wonder if Deb even gave her own attorney accurate information at the time?

Of course, the whole point of all this is DEB FI$CHER’S character, or in this case, the lack of character.

  8. Anonymous says:

Actually, Anonymous @ 11:28 AM, Deb Fischer would fit right in with today’s US Senate. The question is, do we really want to send yet another person to the Senate that will only do the bidding of those out-of-state political action committees that are funding her campaign, or do we want to send someone that will work hard to represent the interests of Nebraska? Deb would just be another Club For Growth/Karl Rove/Koch Bros. tool.

  9. Anonymous says:

We should be so fortunate to have a Senator who understands business as well as the Koch brothers. It’s time we as a country get back to what works, and that’s having a JOB! It worked before, it works here in Nebraska, and it can work nation wide.

Of course we need to make the entire country a Right to Work country, and that single action will help employ many tens of thousands of people.

  10. Interested Observer says:

The Valentine Livestock Auction is one of the premier sale barns in the whole state of Nebraska and today is BUZZING with ranchers talking about DEB FI$CHER trying to steal her beloved, elderly neighbor’s valuable land.

It’s funny that the above article says that a “slew of people” from Valentine went down to Lincoln for Deb’s press conference, when in all actuality there were really only 6. That’s not a “slew”! Even after Deb put out the call for everybody to come running, that’s all she could get.

  11. Uninterested in IO says:

So the sale barn was buzzing at the sale today huh? That’s funny since sale day is Monday and there wasn’t a sale today. There is one tomorrow, but dont let facts get in the way of your good story. But you go ahead and keep making up lies IO. its ok.

  12. Anonymostly says:

Interested Observer, I know you have a knack for dodging direct questions, but when was the first time you mentioned on this blog the whole thing about the Fischers’ “land grab” lawsuit against the “beloved” Kimes? I know you go back and look up this stuff. Often to quote yourself to show how prescient you are. But I’d be curious to know: When did you first bring it up on THIS blog?

  13. Interested Observer says:

Animosity, they flew down to Lincoln and it takes less than an hour each way for that short trip. Deb had worked the phone all Monday afternoon and evening begging anybody at all to come down to save the “damsel in distress”. So, 6 people is still NOT a “slew”.

Actually, sale day has been Thursday for about forever in Valentine. The sale tomorrow is expecting over 5,000 head, which is a very big sale, so you have to get your cattle there early, just to get them included in the sale. That’s why so many people are at the sale barn today, getting their calves hauled to town, sorted, penned and settled down and they ARE talking about DEB FI$CHER’S land grab, just like I said! Lot’s more people know about this terrible land grab, in far greater detail than ever did back at the time of the lawsuit. Let’s just say, it ain’t goin’ over very good for Deb!

So, once again, no lies here. Just the truth.

  14. Interested Observer says:

Anonymostly, I honestly don’t remember when I first mentioned the FI$CHER v Kime lawsuit on this blog. Do you want me to go back and look it up?

  15. Anonymostly says:

No, Dotty, I was able to find it myself. Didn’t take a lot of looking since it wasn’t very long ago that you first raised a stink about this soooo important lawsuit.

The first time you mentioned the Fischers’ lawsuit on this blog was on Sept 18, 2012 at 5:55 p.m. under Sweeper’s Sept 17 post, “New Deb Fischer spot.”

You’ve been posting on here since sometime before the May primary and Deb Fischer has basically been about the only subject you address. Yet, you never mentioned this all-important lawsuit until mid-September.

    And I sense a pattern.

You start posting on here about Deb Fischer’s family’s federal grazing rights and pretty shortly thereafter, the media begin to cover it (save for one isolated OWH story back a year ago.)

Then, you start posting unflattering information about members of Deb Fischer’s family. And, pretty shortly thereafter, stories appear on the same subject in the OWH (and LJS?).

All this time, from prior to the primary through mid-September, you vented your spleen about the federal grazing program; about Deb sitting at some Planned Parenthood table at the county fair aound 10 years ago; about Deb’s family’s driving record; about your insinuation that Deb was trying to overthrow the state Republican party leaders; about the shape of the Sunny Slope Ranch’s brand.

Yet, all that time, you NEVER ONCE MENTIONED the adverse possession lawsuit that you now contend is such a critical window into the dark soul of Deb Fischer.

If this was such a big deal to you and if, as you claim, all the people up in Valentine were horrified that Deb Fischer would sue the beloved Kimes, why did you wait until mid-September to bring this up? Huh?

  16. Macdaddy says:

Anonymostly, the other stuff wasn’t working. And this whole bit about everybody being all atwitter about the lawsuit that happened 17 years ago does not mean people will change their votes. Bob Kerrey is still a snake oil salesman who will contribute to the Democrats’ continuing assault on our economy.

  17. Interested Observer says:

Animosity, you did specifically ask when I first mentioned the lawsuit on THIS blog. I did mention it on the Lincoln Journal Star on October 28, 2010, 8:45 pm.

But if you’re wondering about any particular timing concerning discussing DEB FI$CHER’S record, be assured there are still several big bombshells yet to come. One of them might even be called the “nuclear” bombshell.

  18. To: IO says:

    Dear IO,

Jerry Adamson, arguably one of the most respected ranchers in Cherry County if not Nebraska said the following:

“When you attack the Fischers, you are attacking a lot of us in Cherry County.”

I am sure Mr. Adamson is referring to YOU IO. or Should we call you BO or BS?

  19. Some Thoughts says:

I don’t believe anyone has some eleventh hour dirt on Fischer. If there was anything to be revealed, it wouldn’t have waited until just a few weeks before the election. Every desperate strategy is being tried.

I’m looking at the electoral map and not seeing how Romney can pull off a victory without Ohio or some other key states. Iowa seems more likely to flip than Ohio. Anyone have better information about this?
