Don’t ask about that!

South OThe OWH has a story about how its Big Brother, Berkshire Hathaway, is supporting the fight against Global Warming…er…CLIMATE Change.

Shockingly, all the statements they made about the certainty of climate warm-changing were made without quoting any sources or any other direct scientists.

Of course if they did, that would subject them to scrutiny. Though they do quote some UNL scientists who say that if the weather turns warm…er…the CLIMATE changes, agriculture states would be hardest hit.

Well, THERE is some hard science we can get behind. If the weather gets bad, farmers will be affected. Of course, if the weather IMPROVES, farmers will also be affected.

But can we please get it out of our system that Berkshire and the others are working on Global Warmin…CLIMATE change, out of the goodness of their hearts? They will do it IF it makes good business (including PR) sense. If not, they will “buy and hold utility companies throughout the world for decades to come.”

Which is fine.
But enough of, “OH the CLIMATE!!!”

Just wondering if the OWH got a chance to ask their boss Warren about all of his contributions and thoughts on baby-parts dealers, Planned Parenthood.

No?

How about that…

The newsies report that there are currently 8 applicants for the Legislative Seat abandoned by Brad Ashford COS Jeremy Nordquist.

A former Democrat state Senator from the District, John Synowiecki, has applied for the gig — and will likely run in 2016 whether he gets the appointment or not.

Discussing the applicants, the LJS’s Don Walton gave an interesting description of the South Omaha District:

The 7th District spreads across South Omaha and through downtown Omaha and includes older eastern European immigrant neighborhoods.

Right. Because that’s how we all think of South Omaha these days, right?

It’s like a stroll through Old Town Prague. From the front door of the Bohemian Cafe, along the side of the parking lot, and back into the Bohemian Cafe through the back door.

In case Don missed it, when South High won the state soccer tournament a few years ago, they weren’t running the Polish flag across the field.

So while Don may long for the old days of when my grandma was baking kolaches along 13th Street, the reality is it is just a tad more Latino these days.

But that doesn’t quite jibe with the name, “Synowiecki”, now does it?

Interesting that The Don left out the CV of one applicant: former Missouri House of Representatives member Zach Wyatt-Gomez.

Wyatt-Gomez made headlines a few years back when he was the only openly gay Republican serving as a state rep. He gave up his seat when he went back to school, but has apparently renewed his interest in elective government.

On his Facebook page, Wyatt-Gomez gives an account of why he is a Republican. (Though I honestly don’t know much more about him — and this isn’t meant to be some sort of endorsement.)

Now if only Don can find out if he is a fan of dumplings and kraut…

And speaking of being non-responsive, didja see Hillary’s response on whether or not she supports the Keystone XL Pipeline?

“If it’s undecided when I become president, I will answer your question,” Clinton said. “This is President Obama’s decision. I’m not going to second-guess him.”

THERE’s you “leader” Democrats!
Such a Bold statement, eh Nebraska?

“Hey Hillary, what’s your position on [insert absolutely ANY issue here]?”

“Oh my! That’s a current issue! I can’t answer that! You’ll have to elect me to find out what’s in my head.”

Mighty fine candidate ya got there.

    Climate change denial.

    Sometimes, it’s just stunning.

Speaking of baby parts, it’s a fact that Mittens profited immensely from a $75 Million investment in Stericycle, a medical waste disposal company that profited from the collection and disposal of fetuses from family planning clinics.
Of course the mendacious Mittens lied, stating he has left Bain shortly prior to the investment, but a series of documents filed with the SEC, prove Mittens to be a liar.
Bain controlled 22% of the common shares of Stericycle with Mittens himself, as CEO, having dispositive power of 11% of the Stericycle, more than 2 million shares.

    Then there’s this:
    May 8th, 2004 –
“And now science has presented us with a hope called stem cell research, which may provide our scientists with many answers that have for so long been beyond our grasp. I don’t see how we can turn our backs on this. There are so many diseases that can be cured or at least helped. We’ve lost so much time already. I can’t bear to lose any more.”

The only – and I mean only – reason Warren buys solar and wind projects is because of the huge tax CREDITS. Perfect tax shelter for all of his profitable units; especially MidAmerican E edgy.

This global warm SCAM (the biggest in the history of the world) is the perfect example of crony capitalism.

As Carly Fiornia has stated, not a thing the United States has done or will do will affect the global temp one degree.

  4. The Grundle King says:

    Sparkles,

You might try to bet a little more intellectually honest by acknowledging the fact that, according to the pro-choice crowd, abortions are ‘rare enough’ that payment for disposal fees from Planned Parenthood was likely a very, very small drop in a very, very large bucket in terms of Stericycle’s income. I mean, if only 3% of Planned Parenthood’s income comes from the ‘careful crushing’ of unborn children, then surely a much smaller percentage Stericycle’s income was gained through the disposal of aborted human tissue…even less so when you consider that the good folks at PP had already had their way with the corpse, thereby reducing the amount of tissue to dispose of.

You might also try to be a little more intellectually honest by acknowledging that there’s a difference between the very specific term of ’embryonic stem cell research’ (stem cells harvested only from embryos) and the very generic term ‘stem cell research’ (which encompasses a variety of stem cell sources like donors, cadavers, and yes, embryos).

But alas, I realize that honesty is quite a bit to ask from someone who would put Hillary Clinton in the White House.

  5. Sparkles says:

    Grundle,

There is absolutely nothing dishonest in my post.
The ideology that compelled you to attempt to make a case otherwise, was.. lame.

    The facts remain –
PP does not profit from the disposal of fetuses or their parts. Even the surreptitious videos make this point quite clear. (to anyone capable of critical thought)

It is impossible to say the same for Mitt Romney and Stericycle, whose for-profit motives are irrefutable.
Mittens pocketed millions upon millions of dollars courtesy of his association with a company that was in the business of disposing fetal material specifically because it was a business that proved profitable.

    Anonymous at 2:03.

Then why no increase in global temps in over 14 years?

Do we burn up in 2099? It has been predicted to happen for years. How come Greens have been consistently wrong since Gore cooked up the SCAM?

  7. Anonymous says:

Wow, you bought that canard hook, line and sinker! First, I think you mean 17 years, not 14. Dishonest folks can prove anything if they cherry pick the data used. Google ‘Global warming stopped in 1998′–Only if you flagrantly cherry pick. 1998 was an anomaly in that it had the strongest El Nino of the century. Just look at a graph of the global temperature over the last 100 years. 1998 is definitely an outlier.

With ignorant beliefs such as this, I really can’t believe you went to Prep. I’d demand a tuition refund.

  8. KHDS says:

So when are we going to burn up? Give me a date certain. Gore has been predicting it for 20 years and nothing has happened. The smart crowd in the scam never give a date. Or at least a date within in the next 50 years. Why? Because they would be shown to be wrong. That’s what con men KNOW. In the meantime, they have your tax dollars, tax credits, federal loan money and IPO money.

Some less enlightened members of the scam (like the French Interior Minister) put a date on the burn up date. Google that pal.

You are a complete fool and so blind you don’t even know we are being scammed.

In any event, even accepting your false premise about carbon dioxide and FUTURE global temps nothing the United States alone would do would make one bit of difference. All scientists agree on that point.

  9. KHDS says:

On May 4. 2007 the scientists at the IPCC wrote we only had 8 years left.

    Google it. In the Guardian.

    Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

    Their scientific “prediction” was wrong.

I predict the Cornhuskers will be undefeated this year andI want $1,000 from every NE resident to show how right I am.

  10. Macdaddy says:

Sparkles, I hereby call on President Romney to divest his holdings in Stericycle. On second thought, that isn’t good enough. I will never vote for President Romney’s re-election. Sparkles, a day late, a dollar short, and chock full of non sequiturs.

  11. Macdaddy says:

Anon 4:06, I’m pretty sure that 17 years would encompass the term “over 14 years.” Your high school may be asking for your diploma back…assuming you got one.

  12. Anonymous says:

I’m dealing with multiple idiots here. 🙁 MD, the only way KHDS’ statement is true is if one goes back EXACTLY 17 years. Any other year would disprove his claim, so “over 14 years” is not sufficient.

And to KHDS, since I can’t predict a specific date (and those that do are also idiots), my argument is faulty? Sorry, but it’s a physical law in effect here. Add CO2 to a closed system, and temperatures will rise. Then you cover your bases by saying that the U.S. alone can’t fix the problem. Well, we sure are exacerbati8ng it instead of leading other nations to also reduce CO2 emissions. It’s our selfishness that passes the problems onto our kids.

  13. Sparkles says:

    hy·poc·ri·sy
    həˈpäkrəsē/
    noun
the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one’s own behavior does not conform; pretense.

  14. KHDS says:

“Our selfishness that passes the problems onto our kids.”

    Really?

That’s exactly my point. Even if we follow Jane Kleeb and abandon our cars for horses and bikes, it won’t make any difference.

You need to start attacking China, India and Africa. Tom Steyer built all those coal plants in Asia and now they are spewing all that horrible carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. They are the problem!

But, of course, all those people don’t want to stay poor forever.

Why don’t we both ride our horses over to the Dell tonight and settle this over single malts? We will tip a few in memory of Fr. Dan X. Laughlin, S.J. Deal?
