Hey Peeps!

We are going to try something different today with the latest technology.

I am going to interview Jim Vokal of the Platte Institute to discuss the layoffs and closing of the Con Agra HQ in Omaha. Vokal has already made some statements on it this morning.

The LIVE podcast will be, today (Thursday, 10/1/15) at 12:15pm.

So, instead of doing the regular podcast where you listen to it tomorrow, we will try (TRY…) using a new app called Periscope. You can get the app for either iPhone or Android by clicking here.

Periscope lets you record and stream LIVE video on your smart phone or tablet. You can also watch (and listen) on your regular laptop, on a regular browser, when you get the link.

However, since the app hasn’t advanced to sync in Skype or Facetime (yet), I am going to give you the just the audio you can listen to (with some generic images on the screen). You can then listen to the interview LIVE. Of course you can also listen to it later whenever you like, like a regular podcast.

If you want to get involved, download the Periscope app on your smartphone or tablet, and you can get involved in the conversation. Periscope lets you ask questions and comment LIVE. You will be connected through your Twitter account if you have one, and that is always the best way to go.

This should be fun and different, and we will look at other live broadcasts to do in the future.

You can either get the Periscope app at follow LeavenworthSt or come back here at 12:15pm for the link.

CAG move from Omaha to Chicago is all about the CEO’s refusal to do what’s right for shareholders and employees. One guy wants to stay in his house in Naperville. It is that simple. His personal state income tax savings alone by moving to Omaha wiould make your eyes pop.

Whatever Rhambo gave CAG is peanuts.

Nobody gives a rat’s ass about what Jim Vokal has to say. He is Mr Ricketts puppet.
Had Ricketts not given all his energy into getting the death penalty back, maybe he would have noticed the company was preparing to leave.
When I saw Stothert and Ricketts were going to meet with the CEO of Con Agra I knew it was over, as incompetent as those two Republicans are.

A leader should have seen this coming. Good question, why is Vokal relevant? He sure gets around a good deal with his opinions.

  4. Sparkles says:

According to Tax Foundation, one of Platte Institute’s favorite voodoo economic compadres, Nebraska is ranked the 29th most competitive in the nation in their 2015 State Business Tax Climate ratings, Illinois trails Nebraska, at 31st, and Iowa is among the least competitive states in the nation at 41st.

But of course Mr. Vokal’s knee jerk reaction to ConAgra’s move (simpatico with Platte Institute’s checkbook – Pete Ricketts) is that Nebraska’s working poor and former middle class is simply going to have to bend over just a little further and beg just a little louder for some profit enhancing schtooping by Soulless CorpCo.

    Cause.. it’s the Amurican way.

  5. Sparkles says:

Ricketts’ economic development director out ‘effective immediately’

Ricketts did not immediately provide a specific reason for Hicks-Sorensen’s departure.

  6. bynd says:

So, according to Ricky and Sparkles, we should have offered Con Agra even more state and city corporate welfare. So are you two really that ignorant or are you just closet Tea Party?

  7. Anonymous says:

Who the hell is advising Pete? Now the new Economic Development Director is resigning “effective immediately”? What happened there?

  8. Ricketts the Executioner says:

Ricketts has been acting like a kid with a magnifying glass and an ant farm. He needs to spend more time playing Governor and less time playing executioner.

  9. bynd says:

Every one is a critic. So do any of you have any rational ideas at all on what this state could have done to keep Con Agra?

Maybe it’s time for the libs in this state to focus on the only Dem in this state who holds an office higher than dog catcher. You are such a pathetic group, it almost makes we want to vote again and for Dems. just so you might have something to say other than your congenital whining and sniveling over nothing.

And why exactly are the poor and middle class hurting so bad in Nebraska? Anything other than generalities?

  10. TexasAnnie says:

I have a rational idea, bynd: STOP GIVING TAX INCENTIVES!

Sparkles: Come on over to the Oct. 2nd post w/ your Tax Foundation ideas.

  11. bynd says:

I agree. I have supported that position ever since LB 775 was passed. Do you even know what the Angel Investors tax break is?

But maybe I should be more clear on my question. So do any of you have any rational ideas at all on what this state could have done to keep Con Agra?

For those who are criticizing current state and city leadership, it’s time to put or shut up. Like Icky Ricky. Even Ricky doesn’t care what he has to say. But through all his whining and complaining, he has never given a solution. That’s because he deals in sound bites given to him by others. He does no original thinking. Same for Sparkles. Any solutions that were missed? Or just whining to hear oneself whine.

And don’t get me wrong, all political leadership pretty much sucks. It’s just the hypocrisy of the partisans get’s to the point that it has become a profession for many.

Hey Icky Ricky, you need to stand up and be a man like I tried to teach you. Run for office. your embarrassed dad!
