Democrats spend over $400K to help Maxwell win GOP Primary

[embedit snippet=”nebraska-ppp”]The Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee has spent over $400,000 on a major TV ad buy, to help elect Chip Maxwell in the May 10th Nebraska 2nd District Congressional Republican Primary over retired Brigadier General Don Bacon. This is a major television campaign in the Omaha area.

All of this is part of their plan to, apparently, run Democrat Congressman Brad Ashford against the weaker candidate in November.

If some of you seem confused, don’t be.

Yes, this is paid for by the Democrats.
Yes, they are touting Chip Maxwell as a “conservative” who is against ObamaCare and raising the debt ceiling — red meat Republican issues.

The brashness of this campaign move is stunning, and unheard of in Nebraska history. But it isn’t the first time Democrats have done this.

As a connected politico pointed out to Leavenworth St., the Dems have a history of touting a lesser Republican candidate in the primary so their Democrat candidate will have an easier time in the General Election.

They did it in Delaware with Christine O’Donnell.
They did it in Nevada with Sharron Angle.
They did it in Missouri with Todd Akin.
(The last link there will lead you to a story by Democrat Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill entitled, “How I Helped Todd Akin Win — So I Could Beat Him Later”.

And now the Democrats are trying to help Chip Maxwell win in Nebraska.

Well, they must see that Ashford will have an easier time against Maxwell in the General. One big reason is that Don Bacon is a political newcomer with the squeakiest of clean reputations and a spotless military record. And they are clearly afraid of him.

Maxwell on the other hand, has hundreds of votes to pour over from his time as a State Senator in Lincoln and a member of the Douglas County Board. Think any of those votes can’t be twisted to Ashford’s favor?

This afternoon, Leavenworth St. will post a video of the debate between Bacon and Maxwell, and you will find that their positions are very similar, though differ in a few areas. So you will see that the DCCC’s move is one that is based on who they think they can slam.

And they think they can slam Maxwell.

It is somewhat incredible that the Democrats — no doubt with Brad Ashford’s blessing, which he will deny — have made this kind of brash move, invading the Republican primary.

They have no shame.
Does Brad Ashford?

I’m sorry…you’ll have to point out for the rest of us when and where the Republican party actively supported a weak Democrat candidate…with a significant sum of money…all so they could later beat that candidate in a general election.

      Take your time.

I’m not being as specific as you, though some Repub groups were supporting Bernie as supposedly the weaker candidate. In the realm of dirty tricks, Repubs have a Yuge…. lead!

There is no doubt that before the day is out, Sparkles and Ricky Fulton will come forward to denounce, as they have others, this money and influence from outside the state meant to meddle in the affairs of true Nebraskans. Especially since this reeks of suppress the vote type tactics.

Ricky? Sparkles? Where are you? Teehee

Analysis is wrong. The DCCC ad is an attack on the party. Oh, and regarding those 3 senate seat examples, the power of incumbency played a larger role.
